Beautiful burgundy outer leaves can be harvested beginning at 35 days and round, red roots in 60 days. Sow 1.25 cm (1/2 in) deep, 2 in (5 cm) apart as soon as the soil can be worked. Seeds germinate in 4 - 20 days at a soil temperature of 7° - 21°C (45° - 70°F). An excellent beet for pickling, or can be stored in a cold cellar at 0° - 4°C for up to 6 months.
