Diplotaxis tenuifolia
Family: Brassicaceae
Common name: Sylvetta

Bitter leaves added to salads and savoury dishes are a delight. Wild arugula's flavour tends to be stronger than common commercially found arugula.
Cool weather loving arugula grows well in full sun to part shade, copious water, and rich soil, but will tolerate just about any soil condition and drought. Sow seeds shallowly and cover with a light layer of soil 3 - 4 weeks before last frost. Continue sowing seed every 3 weeks for a continual harvest throughout season. Thin the plants to 30cm x 30cm (12in x 12in) apart. Arugula is used fresh or can be frozen for storage.
